Dr. Lane Tipton provides an introduction to the fascinating and vast topic of the doctrine of man from a Reformed position. This course introduces several theological methods, striking a balance between biblical and doctrinal considerations. Using a close reading of Genesis 1 and 2, Dr. Tipton explains what it means to be an image bearer in our everyday life and work—created in God’s likeness and oriented toward God’s glory. He also describes sin’s impact on our image-bearing work, which leads to discussions of Christology (the doctrine of Christ’s two natures) and soteriology (the doctrine of salvation). After taking this course, you will not only possess an introductory understanding of the doctrine of man, but you will also have a broad understanding of the doctrines of sin, Christ, salvation, and eschatology, giving you tools in both biblical and systematic theology.
